We say goodbye to our ex chairman Tim Wright

Tim Wright - 

It is with deep sadness that TTI announce the sad passing of Tim Wright, a much loved and admired figure within the Travel Technology Community. 

Tim started his Travel Career at TWA airlines and quickly rose through the ranks. He went on to join the GDS Worldspan from its conception in 1990, acting in the capacity of Vice President Business Development, EMEA a role he held for 14 years. He was an instrumental figure head in early the development of the company and pioneered all the European office openings, recruited strong teams and fostered excellent working relationships with country managers. The bonds are still strong, 35 years hence, and this is a testament to his exceptional management style and work ethic. 

When Worldspan was acquired by Travelport in 2009, Tim was once again an influential figure working in the capacity of commercial director UK and Ireland. 

More latterly he will be remembered as the Chairman for The Travel Technology Initiative (TTI). Where for 7 years he guided, nurtured and developed TTI into the flourishing organisation that it is today. 

He ensured that TTI continually moved forward as an organisation into the digital world, and an increasingly AI one, endorsing dynamic speakers at all TTI’s events and encouraged new memberships. 

During his tenure he also championed the development of three new TTI initiatives; #TTIcodes, #TTIplaces and #TTIrooms. All three initiatives enjoy wide acceptance in the travel tech arena. 

Many will remember Tim Wright as an amazing man, not only for his work achievements, but for the sound business advice, camaraderie and endless encouragement that he gave freely to all his colleagues, who often then became his close friends. 

It is a sad day as Tim Wright’s generosity of spirit touched so many and he will be remembered with absolute fondness by all.
